He is an uncomplicated footballer, who makes great decisions for a young player and should not problems handling senior footy, as he demonstrated during his senior games for the Suns' reserves in the NEAFL this season. He is clean with ball in hand, efficient and has a great ability to set up teammates and bring them into the game in attacking positions.

Bowes' height also makes him a reasonable mark for a midfielder and makes him a versatile player who can also move into defence or up forward.

He is also clean in the contest and can play as either an inside or outside midfielder.
