Scharenberg, the brother of injury-prone, but highly-rated Magpie, Matthew, is a talented, strong inside midfielder who loves the contest.

Given his brother's knee issues, Jonty is on an ACL prevention program in order to ensure he does not endure the same stagnated start to his AFL career.

He wins a heap of the footy, has quick hands and is able to feed the ball out well to his teammates at stoppages. He is also a good one-on-one player and works hard on the defensive side of his game.

However, there are question marks over his pace and athleticism and on his natural footy skills.
