Position: Key forward/defender
Club: Bendigo Pioneers/Allies
DOB: 11-02-1999
Height: 194cm
Weight: 89kg
Draft range: 4-12

Summary: Talented key position player who can play at either end of the ground. Is a great mark of the footy and is clean at ground level for his size.

Strengths:

  • Good mark
  • Good at ground level for his size
  • Agility
  • Athleticism
  • Versatile

Weaknesses:

  • Consistency
  • Set shot

Overall:

Brander was initially a member of the Giants' academy, before the AFL changed its zoning, meaning he is now available on the open market.

Brander is the best key position of this year's draft crop following Will Sutherland's decision to pursue a cricket career over footy.

He played the majority of the season in defence and showed great intercept marking ability.

However, he played forward at times as well and produced arguably his most impressive match of the season up forward, booting three goals and taking nine marks against Vic Metro.
