Height: 202cm
Weight:ย 86kg
Draft Range: 3-8

Summary: An athletic tall forward as capable on the ground as he is in the air.

Strengths:

  • Height and size
  • Strong marking ability one-on-one and contested
  • Clean at ground level
  • Positioning in the contest
  • Leap and mobility

Weaknesses:

  • Set shot accuracy
  • Covering areas outside of the forward arc
  • Work rate and endurance
  • Knee reconstruction cruelled most of draft campaign

Overview:

Max King was touted as a potential No.1 pick last year but a knee reconstruction has destroyed most of his 2018 season, taking with it No.1 calculations. He will likely still be a top 5 pick for many clubs, as a tall forward who can be incredibly damaging forward and is incredible overhead.

King is limited by his goal conversion, which he will need to improve lest he become the game's next Travis Cloke - a brilliant forward who struggles in front of goal.

King has proven his ability to kick bags of goals but greater accuracy would only elevate his game to a higher level, in which case he will undeniably become a dominating forward.

As it is, King will still be looked upon as an exciting and talented prospect, and as a key target within the forward 50 who defenders will come to fear.

His ability to double as a backup ruckman will also place him in good stead, but clubs will look for him to work on covering more of the ground in order to introduce more versatility into his game.
