Brisbane midfielder Jarryd Lyons has taken out the 2023 J.J. Liston Trophy as the VFL's premier player of the season, claiming the honour ahead of Southport's Boyd Woodcock on Monday night.
Lyons polled 26 votes from 14 matches this year, receiving votes in 11 matches to place two votes ahead of Woodcock after a stellar campaign at the state league level.
The Lions veteran averaged 32.6 disposals, 8.2 score involvements and 7.6 clearances per game for Brisbane in 2023, helping steer the Queensland club to a preliminary final finish.
Woodcock would finish in second place and three votes ahead of Werribee's Tom Gribble and Footscray's Lachie Sullivan.
Sullivan would take out the Coaches MVP Award with 102 votes from the VFL's coaches, coming ahead of Southport's Jacob Dawson and Williamstown's Marty Hore.
Werribee's Sam Clohesy took out the 2023 Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal for a promising campaign with the Tigers, averaging 16.5 disposals, 5.6 marks and 2.3 tackles per game with a grand final awaiting the Victorian club.
There was a three-way tie for the 2023 Lambert-Pearce Medal, with Box Hill pair Jordan Mifsud and Akayla Peterson joined by Geelong's Charlotte Simpson all finishing on 14 votes.
In what was a tight race for the honour, the trio finished one vote ahead of Collingwood's Jessica Bates.
Bates would take home the Coaches MVP honour on the night, while Williamstown's Sarah Cameron claimed the Rohenna Young Medal.
The VFL Team of the Year and VFLW Team of the Year were also named on Monday night.
