A list of 24 AFL hopefuls who will undergo medical testing ahead of next week's Mid-Season Draft has been unveiled, with the list an indication of prospects who have garnered interest from multiple clubs ahead of the talent intake.
Clubs are able to nominate players for medical testing to further examine the potential pick-ups in the build-up to the draft, with those given the nod requiring multiple nominations from AFL clubs to make the list.
A dozen prospects last year underwent medical testing, with eight of those players earning a spot on an AFL list - including the first three selections in Ryan Maric, Robert Hansen and Clay Tucker.
This year's list is twice the size, with the current Mid-Season Draft Order looking at up to 26 selections given the AFL's current injury crisis.
As revealed by AFL.com.au, 24 prospects will undergo testing, with former Sydney-listed player Matt Ling among the candidates.
Ling, who played four games for the Swans across four years in the top flight, has been a sensation for SANFL club Norwood and looks to have emerged back on the radar of AFL clubs.
Ex-Port Adelaide tall Brynn Teakle has also made the cut and could earn another chance in the AFL after falling short of a list spot at Collingwood earlier this year.
Teakle is one of three WAFL players on the list, with ruck-forward hybrid joined by top-rated prospects Jacob Blight and Jasper Scaife
The VFL has seven selections on the medical testing list, while the SANFL has six, with the likes of Collingwood's Jack Hutchinson and Woodville-West Torrens talent Luke Beecken among the leading names.
The Talent League leads the way with eight names on the list, with the league having had the past two No.1 selections at the Mid-Season Draft in Maric and Jai Culley, who both joined West Coast.
Geelong Falcons pair Will McLachlan and Joe Pike could earn selections next week, while Tasmania's Geordie Payne is another strong contender.
The 2024 AFL Mid-Season Draft will take place next Wednesday on May 29.
