A recent discussion among the 2024 All-Australian selection panel has unveiled a 76-player list of prospective options in consideration for a blazer at the end of this year.
Broadcasted on Fox Footy, insight into the All-Australian panel's workings was uncovered as a near-80 players were discussed by those who will select the final 22-man side.
The All-Australian panel is made up of Andrew Dillon (Chair), Eddie Betts, Jude Bolton, Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes, Glen Jakovich, Matthew Pavlich, Laura Kane, Abbey Holmes and Josh Mahoney.
Ladder leaders Sydney had the most players mentioned with eight, as Nick Blakey, Ollie Florent, Brodie Grundy, Errol Gulden, Will Hayward, Isaac Heeney, James Rowbottom and Chad Warner were all named.
The next highest was Essendon and GWS with seven each as all 18 clubs had at least one player in the conversation, with North Melbourne and Richmond having the fewest with just one player each.
A number of All-Australian contenders were not mentioned on the program - including Carlton's Jacob Weitering, Bulldog Adam Trelor and breakout Dockers defender Jordan Clark - but may have been discussed during the panel's meeting and not shown on the broadcast.
From last year's selected side Jack Sinclair, Darcy Moore, Taylor Walker, Charlie Cameron, Tim English and Nick Larkey were not shown to be discussed.
These discussions were held during May and are noted as preliminary conversations, with the panel to come together on several more occasions this year.
