Collingwood has released a positive update on the recently injured hamstring of midfielder Taylor Adams, with the former Giant already up and running in an effort to keep his season alive.
Adams went down with the strain during the Magpies' open training session last Friday, forcing the hard-nosed ball-winner from the track before a packed crowd.
Yet, in the wake of the weekend, Collingwood's Head of High Performance, Jarrod Wade, has stated Adams is now pain-free and will hit the track this week.
Though a line has been put through the 29-year-old's name for this Friday, should the Pies knock off his old side and progress to the grand final, Adams will likely re-enter the selection frame.
“Taylor Adams as reported over the weekend he just came out of a contest and was a little bit tight in his hamstring,” Wade told Magpies Media.
“He didn't complete any more of the training session and on Friday night we were able to go get scans and assessments on that hamstring over the weekend and it's recovered really, really well so far.
“It's on the very minor end, obviously these hamstrings get graded one, two and three and it's even somewhere less than a one.
“He's got some soreness over the weekend but that's all settled and he's actually been able to start running this week which is really quickly post injury, which is a really good sign.”
Elsewhere at the AIA Centre, Nick Daicos has officially been labelled fit to face the Giants this week after ramping up his training regimen, including featuring in match simulation ahead of the weekend.
“Nick Daicos has been working away in rehab for the last five or six weeks and was able to complete some of the match simulation last Friday night,” Wade said.
“He got about 25 minutes done of full match simulation, so that's contact, that's everything and he wasn't restricted all in that.
“He'll complete a full session of training this week. We're not expecting any hiccups with Nick and he's been responding to each session better every time we've given him more load.”
While it remains to be seen whether he will be picked to play, youngster Reef McInnes has been given the green light to return from a shoulder injury.
However, the respective seasons of Ash Johnson and Will Kelly have come to a close after both sustained arm injuries.
For Johnson, his campaign ended after breaking his arm during Collingwood's VFL finals series was snuffed out during an elimination final defeat, while Kelly has already gone under the knife to repair a wrist injury.
Collingwood will do battle with GWS before a packed-out MCG crowd on Friday night.
