Gary Ablett will play his 357th and final game in the 2020 AFL Grand Final.

Talks that Ablett could continue for another season were rampant after his impressive performance in Geelong's 40-point win over Brisbane last night.

But the little master told reporters today that it would be nice to hang up the boots with a premiership medal next Saturday.

โ€œI could probably get my body through another 12 months. Whether I want to do that or not... It is a physical game. A tough game. If we can win a premiership this Saturday, it would be a nice way to go out," Ablett told reporters including Fox Footy's Tom Morris on Sunday.

โ€œ[I have had] no second thoughts. The game doesnโ€™t get any easier. I think for me over the last couple of years my body hasnโ€™t been able to do what it could do in my younger years and I think going into pre-season I just had to adapt to that and work out other ways I could help the team and that comes down to my footy IQ and being able to position myself in the right spot.โ€

Ablett returned to Geelong three years ago in the quest for a third flag to go along with his premiership medals in 2007 and 2009.

If Geelong wins the premiership, Ablett will become the third player in VFL/AFL history to win three premierships and at least two Brownlow Medals.

The other two players to achieve this feat were Essendon duo Dick Reynolds (Premierships: 1942, 1946, 1949, 1950 & Brownlow Medals: 1934, 1937-38) and Bill Hutchison (Premierships: 1942, 1946, 1949-50 & Brownlow Medals: 1952-53).
