Giants coach Adam Kingsley believes assistant Brett Montgomery could be the ideal candidate for the vacant West Coast coaching job, following Adam Simpson's ousting.

Pressed on the potential candidacy of his assistant at the Giants, Kingsley shared his thoughts on whether the Eagles should target the former Bulldog.

"Absolutely. I think they'd be mad not to talk to him," he said.

"I think he's a fantastic coach, more than capable of being a senior coach in this competition and he just needs the opportunity."

"He sees the game really well, he's obviously a really smart coach game style-wise."

Kingsley highlighted Montgomery's connection with players, endorsing his passion for the game and dynamic ability to develop, guide and discipline a playing group.

"He has his views on how the game should be played and he's really strong. He's a great teacher, builds connections with all his players."

"If you speak to all the players that he's coached, they all love him. He has a way to connect to them, but also educate and hold them accountable."

Kingsley did not hesitate once in his appraisal or hold back his endorsement with the hope of potentially keeping his assistant at the club a little while longer, even stating specifically that he would have a profound impact at West Coast should they seek his signature.

"He's really well-rounded, he's been in the game a long time. So I think he'd do a wonderful job irrespective of which club."

"West Coast; I see him having significant impact at that footy club... I think he should given an opportunity to at least interview."

Montgomery is the latest to be praised significantly as a potential candidate for the West Coast job, with former Eagles Dean Cox and Ash Hansen as well as Nathan Buckley, Daniel Giansiracusa and Josh Carr also being thrown into the mix of candidates.
