Crows defender Wayne Milera will spend the next two weeks recovering from a hamstring injury that he sustained at training on Monday.
Before the Christmas break, Milera suffered a hamstring injury but was back training with the main group until he reported pain again in his right hamstring during Monday's session, with scans later confirming that he had re-injured his hamstring.
โWe expect that Wayne will be back in main training in two to three weeks,โ Adelaide High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said in a club update.
โHe will commence his rehabilitation straight away and we won't take any risks, so he won't play in the internal trial on February 16, but we expect him to be available for the practice games against Port Adelaide or West Coast.โ
Milera has struggled with a number of injuries over his career which saw him sidelined for the majority of 2020 with a foot stress fracture, while he missed all of 2021 with more injuries.
In 2022 he only managed 12 games however he had his most consistent year in 2023, playing 22 games and averaging 19.7 disposals. It's hoped this reoccurring hamstring injury will not set him back for the 2024 season.
Also, top draftee Dan Curtin, who has been in the rehabilitation training group after jarring his knee, is expected to return to the main group this week.
Curtin was drafted from WA and is considered the best key defender from the 2023 AFL draft due to his excellent craft of speed, agility and motor skills. It is hoped he will have an immediate impact in the Crows' backline.
Both players are expected to be at full fitness and up for selection for the Crows' season-opening game against the Suns at Heritage Bank Stadium on Saturday, 16th March.
