The Adelaide Crows are reportedly keen on luring Essendon free agent Mason Redman home, looking at aggressively targeting the experienced don.

Redman, who has played 84 games since his debut in 2016, would be a valuable asset to Adelaide's backline if he decides to leave Essendon and return home at seasons end.

Per reports from the Herald Sun's Jon Ralph, Redman is emerging as a key target for the Crows this off-season as they continue their development under Matthew Nicks.

"This is a club that is very keen to put itself in the shop window for prospective recruits," Ralph said on Fox Footy.

"The Dons free agent in Mason Redman is very firmly in their sights... and he is the exact type of intercept player that they want."

"Certainly Essendon will try hard to hold onto him."

Adelaide CEO Tim Silvers, while speaking to the Herald Sun, said he would not comment specifically on individual players that the club was targeting at this point in time.

"It is obvious that most people that we like to target ex-south Australian talent to see if they want to come home and be with family," Silvers said to the Herald Sun.

"We are in a reasonable spot with our salary cap and we will be aggressive over the next 12 months, but we will also be targeted. We know we have a couple of holes to fill."

This season, Redman is ranking elite for disposals, kicks, and tackles, as well as above average for marks. Redman finished fourth in Essendon's best and fairest last year after a breakout season, becoming a well-regarded intercept defender.
