Adelaide star Matt Crouch has unfortunately continued his luckless run with a troublesome groin.

Despite "making good progress in his rehabilitation and return to running", the Crows have revealed another setback in Crouch's recovery on Monday, with news of the midfielder having to undergo further surgery on his groin.

After receiving hip surgery ahead of the 2021 season, The 26-year-old missed the entire 2021 season due to the injury.

Whilst a follow up surgery in May was suppose to change this, the midfielder pulled up sore with a groin injury after a state game a few weeks later, further instilling that Crouch would be unavailable in the near future.

The Crows expressed a further hold up on Crouch's recovery time, informing fans that his return to AFL is still unknown.

"After seeking further medical advice the decision was made for the on-baller to have more surgery," a club statement reads.

"The operation was to alleviate soreness and a timeline of Crouch's return to running will become clearer with his rehabilitation in coming weeks."

Despite the several setbacks, the Crows are confident Crouch will be back next season.

The star midfielder was Adelaide's 2017 Malcolm Blight medallist, averaging 28.3 disposals and 11 contested possessions a game in a career-best season.

The Crows bal-magnet re-signed with Adelaide in early September, accepting a two-year deal after coming out of contract this year.

“It was always my preference to re-sign with Adelaide and it was just a matter of taking the time to work through where both I and the club were at,” Crouch said at the time.

“Although it has been a frustrating year for me personally with injury, I’m now looking forward to getting back on the training track with all my teammates in pre-season and returning to the field next year.

“We are building something special here and I am confident I have plenty of good footy ahead of me as has the team.”
