Adelaide fitness boss Darren Burgess has shared the latest updates on a host of injured Crows following the conclusion of their 2024 season.

The club finished their campaign with a 31-point loss to the minor premier Swans, holding 15th spot on the AFL ladder as they prepare to watch September action from the stands.

Ahead of the upcoming off-season, Burgess' overall injury assessment appears positive, barring a delayed preseason for key defender Jordon Butts, who will be held back by the surgery on his Lisfranc injury suffered in Adelaide's thrilling Round 19 win over Essendon.

The club do not expect him to train for the remainder of 2024, potentially using the Christmas break to maximise his recovery.

“Jordon has been working hard in the gym and his rehab is progressing well but the nature of his foot injury and the surgery means we don't expect him to be training fully until after Christmas,” Burgess said.

In a fresh development, the Crows fitness guru revealed a minor knee concern being dealt with by 2024 leading goal-kicker Darcy Fogarty.

The key-forward is said to have played through the concern during the season, with the break from play providing the chance to return to full fitness ahead of 2025.

“He will have an arthroscope and a minor clean up,” Burgess said.

“It was an accumulation injury that he was able to play through during the year, and now is a good opportunity to address it and ensure he is ready to go for the start of pre-season training.

“We expect Darcy to be off legs for three weeks after his operation and then returning to running after that.”

Star forward Izak Rankine seems to have recovered smoothly from his sickening concussion following Dan Houston's showdown bump.

The mercurial talent is experiencing no lingering symptoms and has return to running from the Round 23 incident.

Youngster Brayden Cook should see out a full preseason, beginning November 25, as he manages a foot injury suffered at SANFL level.
