Adelaide captain Taylor Walker has committed his long-term future to the Crows, signing a three-year contract extension.

The key forward was already contracted until the end of next season, but will now remain a Crow until at least the end of the 2021 campaign.

The 27-year-old will be 31 when his current contract ends, meaning this extension could see Walker stay a Crow for life.

“Like I have said many times before, I love the footy club, its people and especially my teammates,” Walker told afc.com.au.

“I am convinced this playing group can achieve the type of success we all crave and the supporters deserve.

“It will take sacrifice, everyone focusing on what is best for the team and plenty of hard work, but I know the boys are up for the challenge.”

Walker has played 142 games for Adelaide since making his debut in round 1, 2009, and has booted 336 goals in his career.

The two-time All-Australian was named as the captain of the Crows in 2015, and was voted as the game's best captain at last year's AFL Players Association Awards.

Adelaide Head of Football Brett Burton was thrilled to keep Walker at the club, and was pleased with the way the skipper handled the negotiations .

“Tex is an influential leader and an important person around our Club,” Burton said.

“He is also one of the competition’s elite forwards and continues to mature as a footballer, leader and person.

“His willingness to commit, in a way that assists the Club in keeping this group together, highlights his faith in where we are heading and his team-first approach.”
