Adelaide have confirmed veteran midfielder Rory Sloane has signed a one-year extension at West Lakes, extending his career as a Crow into a 16th season.

Sloane joins fellow club great Taylor Walker in recommitting to the Crows for the 2024 season, with the duo combining for over 500 games between them.

Adelaide have enjoyed a strong season of signings, with Sloane now joining Walker (2024), Billy Dowling (2026), Darcy Fogarty (2025), Chayce Jones (2026), Mark Keane (2025), Max Michalanney (2026), Lachlan Murphy (2025), Nick Murray (2025), Luke Nankervis (2025), Harry Schoenberg (2025), Jake Soligo (2029), Kieran Strachan (2025), Zac Taylor (2025) and Josh Worrell (2025) in re-signing.

The Crows confirmed on Tuesday that Sloane and the club have agreed to extend their partnership for a further 12 months, with the former Adelaide captain revealing he has more to give.

“I love where this Club is heading, both on and off the field, and I'm excited by the growth we have seen this year,” Sloane said in a club statement.

“While we obviously train and play in an elite environment, I have often spoken about there being a local footy club feel about the place and it's what I love.

“There are lots of genuine people looking out for each other and it translates to on-field performance where we have shown that our best is definitely good enough to match it with any team.

“I want to contribute and do all I can to make this Club the best it can be, and I appreciative the support I have and continue to receive.”

Sloane has played 254 games for the Crows since making his debut in 2009. The 33-year-old has played in 21 matches so far this season after overcoming a season-ending ACL injury in 2022.

The Victorian has claimed two Malcolm Blight Medals and an All-Australian selection across his time with the Crows and sits 10th for games played at Adelaide.

Sloane and the Crows are looking to keep their finals chances alive this weekend when they face Sydney at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
