AFL 23 to include ‘Pro Team’ mode, more player ratings revealed

Player cards, colours and ratings have emerged in the game’s latest trailer.

Upcoming AFL video game AFL 23 will include a 'Pro Team' feature, a mode that looms likely to follow suit of EA Sports' Ultimate Team on FIFA.

The Big Ant Studios game, which will be released on May 4, is set to include career mode, allowing players to trades, a draft system and player development as well the ability to create your their club, players, and stadiums, as well as online modes, including a four-player online and local co-op mode.

Pro Team will likely allow players to build their own teams through player packs and cards, with each player to be given an overall player rating as well as ratings for five leading skills.

A new trailer for AFL 23 has shown players printed on cards of differing colours (blue, green and brown/gold), with their overall rating and ratings for PHY (likely: physical), OFF (offence), KCK (kicking), HND (hands) DEF (defence) included.

The trailer included nine AFL players and their cards, with ruckmen Tom Hickey (overall rating: 85, card colour: green), Toby Nankervis (overall rating: 88, card colour: blue) and Tristan Xerri (overall rating: 82, card colour: gold/brown) shown.

AFL 23 is fully licensed for the 2023 AFL and AFLW competitions, incorporating over 1200 players.

Anthony Hudson, Hamish McLachlan, Daisy Pearce, Daniel Harford, Kelli Underwood and Jason Bennett will all feature as commentators.
