Victorian Footy fans will be offered some respite from the cost of living crisis, with the AFL announcing that it will freeze ticket prices for the 2024 season.

The call, first announced by News Corp, means that fans won't be asked to dig too into their hip pockets for the sixth-straight season as the AFL has not hiked prices on Melbourne-based games since 2018.

Across the course of the upcoming season, fans at the Docklands and the MCG  can expect to pay $27 for adult tickets, $18 for concession admission and $5 for children.

Family tickets that admit two adults and two children will also remain locked at $54.

Children under the age of five years old will continue to receive admission free of charge.

“The price freeze and family ticket are part of our commitment to fans in keeping footy prices affordable and accessible as cost-of-living pressures continue to be front of mind for every household,'' she said.

“We are really aware of the challenges everyone is facing; this is the sixth year in a row we have frozen GA prices.

“It is an important part of continuing to make the game as accessible as possible.''

The 2024 AFL season is set to commence on Thursday, March 7 when Melbourne travels to do battle with Sydney at the SCG.

The first Victorian fixture is scheduled for the following week when Richmond and Carlton lock horns in their traditional clash at the MCG
