Geelong are understood to be moving to sign Melbourne AFLW star Daisy Pearce as an assistant coach for 2022.

The Cats' coaching cohort has already undergone a facelift since their preliminary final exit to the Demons last year, with Chris Scott and new CEO Steve Hocking having wrung the changes this off-season.

Geelong have welcomed the returns of former players James Kelly, Matthew Egan, Harry Taylor and Shannon Byrnes to their coaching ranks, while former Carlton and Adelaide forward Eddie Betts has also ventured to Kardinia Park for 2022.

Scott has bid farewell to assistant coaches Corey Enright, Matthew Scarlett and Matthew Knights since the end of last season, while Hocking has succeeded long-serving chief executive Brian Cook.

Now, according toย The Age'sย Sam McClure and Peter Ryan, Geelong are looking to lure Pearce to the Cattery for the upcoming season as an assistant.

Pearce is understood to be contemplating calling time on her decorated career with the Demons, with clubs circling the Melbourne captain's services for off-field roles.

As reported by The Age, the Cats are in "advanced discussions" with Pearce in regards to adding the two-time All-Australian to their coaches box.

It is understood that Essendon have also been keen to acquire Pearce's signature, with the 33-year-old reportedly turning down an offer to be senior coach of the Bombers' inaugural women's team which will join the AFLW next season.

The news comes shortly after broadcaster Channel Seven moved Pearce into their commentary box for prime time games on Friday nights, replacing AFL great Wayne Carey as a mainstay in Seven's showcase matches.

Should Pearce join Geelong, she would do so under the AFL's newly implemented coaching program that would guarantee the Demons star two years of employment and aid the development of female coaches in the game.

With the AFLW season still alive, Pearce is set to place her priorities on the campaign ahead, with Melbourne currently placed second with two games remaining in the home and away season.

Should 2022 be Pearce's last season in the AFLW, a maiden Demons premiership would be a fitting conclusion to her ongoing impact on the league.
