The AFL has informed clubs of its off-season schedule, regarding the 2024 Free Agency Period, the 2024 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period and the 2024 AFL Draft.
The Free Agency period will open on Friday, October 4, following the 2024 AFL Grand Final.
Lasting a week, players and clubs will have seven days to make moves via free agency, with the window closing Friday, October 11, overlapping with the beginning of the trade period.
The 2024 AFL Trade Period will open Monday, October 7 and will close Wednesday, October 16, with a flurry of trades set for the final day as a part of the last-minute dramas.
With all current players making moves across two weeks, it will be time to turn our attention to the next crop of stars ready to enter the AFL.
The AFL National Draft will once again be split across two nights, with only the first round of selections being called out on Wednesday, November 20, with the remainder the following evening.
The Rookie and pre-season drafts will occur on Friday, November 22.
Recruiters will get a taste of what to expect at the various draft combines along with the U18 leagues and championships across the nation.
The National Draft Combine will be held on October 4-6, while the State Combines (Victoria on October 6, South Australia on October 12 and Western Australia on October 13) confirmed.
Twomey also reported that the 2024 Mid-Season Draft will take place on Wednesday, 29 May, between rounds 11 and 12.
