One of this year's exciting draft prospects Sandringham Dragons youngster Taj Hotton has reportedly suffered a suspected anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury at training that will most likely sideline him for the remainder of the season.
The son of former Collingwood and Carlton player Trent and brother of St Kilda's Olli has enjoyed a strong start to his draft campaign in the Coates Talent League, averaging 28.7 disposals, 7.3 marks, 4.7 inside 50s and 1.7 goals per game from his three appearances for the Dragons.

A month ago, Hotton was also included in the extended AFL Academy squad for the clash with VFL clubs Coburg and Western Bulldogs but put his name in the sights of the recruiters with a dominant Round 2 performance against the Oakleigh Chargers in the Talent League.
Hotton was everywhere, amassing 32 disposals and booting four goals with 10 marks, five tackles and five inside 50s.
The Hampton Rovers product was also selected for the Victoria Metro side ahead of the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships โ U18 Boys, backing up his representation from last year.

However, according to draft guru and AFL media's Cal Twomey, the youngster could be sidelined for the remainder of the season, which could affect where he lands come the 2024 National Draft in November.
Hotton is tipped to go in the first round but a lack of football due to his knee injury could see him slide a few spots.
Hotton's older brother, Olli, was taken with Pick 22 in the 2022 National Draft but has yet to debut.
The brothers are following in their father's footsteps, Trent, who featured in 78 (17 with Collingwood and 61 for Carlton) AFL games across eight seasons.
