AFL Draft: Eye-catching youngsters headline 2023 state combine invite list

A host of eye-catching names have graced this year's list of invitations to the 2023 AFL State Draft Combines.

Tuesday's list of invitees follows the release of the National AFL Draft Combine invitation list in early August, containing the names of this year's brightest draft prospects.

Perhaps the most notable name among this year's invitation list for the state-based trials is Melbourne father-son prospect Kynan Brown, the son of former Demon, Nathan, who is expected to make his way to the Dees in November.

Another Demons connection is Sam van Rooyen, the brother of burgeoning forward, Jacob, while Hawks defender Changkuoth Jiath's brother, Tew, has also been invited.

Victoria Metro captain Will Brown, Geelong Falcons duo Tom Anastasopoulos and Michael Rudd, and mature-aged Richmond VFL defender Mutaz El Nour are all also invitees.

These youngsters will hope to follow in the footsteps of those who have attended state draft combines before them and gone on to forge AFL starts, such as North Melbourne father-son draftee Cooper Harvey and recent Fremantle debutant Tom Emmett last year.

In totality, there are 55 players who have been invited to this year's state draft combines, with the three separate events to be held in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth in early October, following the National Draft Combine and leading into this November's National Draft.

While there are just three state draft combines, all states and territories will be represented across the trio of events.

All 18 clubs played a part in the compilation of the list of invitees, with each team's recruiting committees asked to submit a list of preferred attendees.

The 2023 National Draft Combine is scheduled for October 6-8.

VICTORIA

SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Date: Saturday, October 14
Venue: Nazareth College
Featuring players South Australia and Northern Territory

WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Date: Sunday, October 15
Venue: Curtin University
