North Melbourne's top 2024 draftee, Finn O'Sullivan, will join an exciting young core after being selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2024 AFL Draft.

The Oakleigh Chargers product and Vic Country star joins a Kangaroos side brimming with youth and talent, ready to make his mark in the AFL.

Reflecting on his draft night, O'Sullivan described the moment as โ€œpretty surrealโ€ for both him and his family.

Despite being touted as a potential No. 1 pick, the classy midfielder was thrilled to see his close friend Sam Lalor claim the top spot.

โ€œOne of my best mates went pick one, so I'm so stoked for him,โ€ O'Sullivan told reporters.

โ€œI didn't really care what pick I went, as long as I did the best I could.โ€

O'Sullivan brings a unique blend of speed, endurance, and versatility to North Melbourne. Known for his explosive bursts from stoppages and ability to take overhead marks, the 18-year-old is eager to contribute to the Kangaroos' burgeoning midfield.

โ€œI'll just bring my strengths โ€” my running, feeding it to teammates... overhead marking,โ€ he explained.

โ€œThey've already got a great mix of players through there, so I can't wait to be a part of it.โ€

The midfielder's journey to Arden Street comes with a touch of family history. His father, Nick, was once listed with North Melbourne, although he never played a senior game. Additionally, O'Sullivan's second cousin is Carlton star Sam Walsh, the No. 1 pick in the 2018 draft.

With footballing pedigree and strong performances at every level of his development, O'Sullivan appears ready to continue the family's legacy at the highest level.

The Kangaroos have now selected five top-five picks in the last three drafts, including Harry Sheezel, George Wardlaw, Colby McKercher, and Zane Duursma. O'Sullivan is already familiar with several of these players, noting the friendly interactions he had with Sheezel and Wardlaw during the draft process.

โ€œIt always helps to have boys who are there that you know. Makes it a lot easier.โ€

Despite dealing with thumb and finger injuries in his draft year, O'Sullivan showcased his readiness for AFL-level competition. Highlights included a standout VFL performance for Richmond, where he kicked two goals and had six score involvements from just 12 touches.

His ability to compete against senior bodies further cemented his status as one of the draft's premier prospects.

Looking ahead, O'Sullivan is enthusiastic about contributing to a North Melbourne side stacked with young talent.

โ€œYou look at their list โ€” a lot of young talent coming through and I can't wait to be a part of it,โ€ he said.

As the Kangaroos continue their rebuild, Finn O'Sullivan is shaping up to be a key piece of the puzzle. With his mix of talent, versatility and determination, North Melbourne fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about their new recruit.
