Fremantle are said to have lodged the paperwork for over-age father-son talent Jaren Carr ahead of this month's AFL Draft.

Carr is the son of 134-game ex-Docker Matt, who spent eight years on Fremantle's list earlier this century after stints with Collingwood and St Kilda.

The 20-year-old - who was first eligible for the AFL Draft in 2022 - made his WAFL debut for South Fremantle this year and would feature in the Bulldogs' senior side on nine occasions.

The 191cm forward averaged 11.9 disposals and 4.1 marks per game and kicked three goals at the WAFL level this year, adding to his 12 majors from nine games for South Fremantle's reserves.

Two years after passing on the option to first recruit Carr to the club, the Dockers are said to be weighing up a play for the Fremantle City product in 2024.

According to The West Australian, paperwork has been lodged to give Fremantle the ability to match a bid for Carr come the November 20-21 national intake.

The publication's report suggests Brisbane had a strong interest in Carr's services earlier this year, however the young attacker opted against nominating for the Mid-Season Draft, where he could have earned an 18-month contract with a move to the Queensland capital.

Fremantle hold Picks 14, 30 and 67 for this year's National Draft and may consider Carr as an option with their last pick, which will likely advance its place in the order following a series of matched bids earlier in the draft that absorb multiple selections.

Carr could also be considered as a rookie addition, with AFL clubs able to pre-list father-son tied talent from this year if they are not selected in the National Draft.

The Dockers are expected to have a list spot vacant for former Port Adelaide and Geelong forward Quinton Narkle, who may join Fremantle as a Supplemental Selection Period addition later this off-season.
