Oakleigh Chargers midfielder Jagga Smith hasn't done his chances of being the first overall selection at November's AFL Draft any harm following a 50-disposal game over the weekend.

The talented teen managed the ball-winning haul on Sunday against the Western Jets, however, his side fell short of a win by three goals at La Trobe University.

Smith's tally comes after a strong start to his 2024 draft campaign, having recorded 30, 29, 28, 33, 33 and now 50 disposals across his six appearances for the Chargers.

The agile onballer almost managed to double the disposals tally of the next best accumulator on the field, with Jets talent Daniel Snell second in the game for touches with 26.

Smith also managed a goal, six marks and four inside 50s against the Western Jets, with his disposal average for the season now reading 33.8 touches per game.

Smith's feat is the third most highest for disposals in a Talent League Boys game, trailing Northern Knights' Kieran Malone (52 disposals - Round 8, 2015) and now-Brisbane Lion Will Ashcroft (51 disposals - Round 10, 2022) when he was with the Sandringham Dragons.

The stunning game from Smith comes a week out from Vic Metro's opening game of the U18 Boys' National Championships, where the Richmond native will line up alongside a handful of this year's leading draft prospects.

Smith is one part of a lethal midfield ensemble for Vic Metro in 2024, with Eastern Ranges gun Josh Smillie and Brisbane father-son selection Levi Ashcroft holding equally strong chances of being selected at Pick 1 this year.

Vic Metro will host the Allies at IKON Park on Sunday for their season opener, with the travelling outfit coming off a close loss to South Australia over the weekend.

South Australia booted the final three goals of the game to win by 12 points in the opening game of the carnival season, with Carlton father-son pair Ben and Lucas Camporeale among the best performers for the Croweaters in the win.

Ben Camporeale notched up 27 disposals, five clearances and six inside 50s, while his brother had 23 touches, five marks, three inside 50s and three rebound 50s to each offer some run through the middle.

Bottom-ager Dyson Sharp was also among South Australia's best on the day, amassing 25 possessions, seven tackles, nine clearances and six inside 50s while captain Sid Draper and fellow onballer Phoenix Hargrave were equally important in the result.

Adelaide father-son Tyler Welsh booted an equal game-high three goals - including the final major of the match - tying with teammate Evan Bradley and Allies forward Josh Murphy.

South Adelaide young gun and Mid-Season Draft chance Noah Howes did his prospects no harm with 2.2 from 13 disposals and five hitouts, four marks and two clearances.

Gold Coast Academy prospect and top-five draft chance Leonardo Lombard was among the Allies' best with 27 disposals, five tackles, seven clearances and eight inside 50s, while Brisbane-tied Academy talent Sam Marshall led all ball-winners with 29 disposals, seven marks and four clearances.

South Australia's National Championships campaign continues this weekend, with their clash against Vic Country to follow the match between Vic Metro and the Allies on Sunday at IKON Park.

That game will see leading draft prospects Sam Lalor and Harvey Langford on show for Vic Country, while another Pick 1 chance in Finn O'Sullivan will be absent due to recent finger surgery.
