Glenelg forward Ashton Mooir entered 2023 in consideration as a top-five draft prospect, but an injury-impacted draft campaign has seen the 187cm attacker's position among his fellow draft hopefuls slide.
Moir's bottom-age season for the Tigers and South Australian put his name on the map, with a fur-goal outing in the National Championships against Western Australia a major highlight for the croweater.
The Plympton teenager would also boot 30 goals in his 10 appearances for Glenelg's Under-18s side last year to be named alongside the likes of Harley Reid and Zane Duurmsa as a potential headline name for this year's draft.
While the last year hasn't played out in Moir's favour, the agile and athletic medium-sized forward has been able to remain in the conversation as a likely draft recruit at November's count.
A hip injury did derail his hopes of retaining a place among the top crop of prospects, but Moir would overcome injury concerns to feature in all four of South Australia's matches and a further six for the Tigers' junior side - booting more than two goals per game with the latter.
Moir has proven to be an accurate goalkicker with his ability to score from distance and either foot, with his leaping capacity making him a much taller attacking target than what onlookers may believe.
A time of 8.244 seconds for the agility test at the AFL Draft Combine would see Moir place among the top scorers and allow the high-upside prospect a chance to show scouts his athleticism after a hampered 2023.
His size and balance of agility, damaging forward traits and potential has Moir in a mould similar to that of Melbourne attacker Bayley Fritsch or athletic Kangaroos utility Hugh Greenwood.
A selection for Moir is likely to come in the second round of the draft until the last few selections, with the likes of Fremantle (Picks 34 and 46), St Kilda (Pick 40) or GWS (Pick 43) potentially in consideration.
