Western Australia half-forward Hamish Davis is an exciting front-half player who can have an impact in attack and through midfield.

With his strong aerobic capacity - made evident with his fifth-place finish in the 2km time trial with a time of 6:18mins - Davis is able to spread the ground and find space while soaking off his opponent.

When at the contest, his power and strength can also be a difference maker for the Claremont talent, who was able to flex his forward craft across multiple levels in 2024.

Davis played all four games for WA this year at the U18s National Championships, averaging 14.5 disposals, 4.0 marks, 6.0 score involvements and 1.8 goals per game for the Sandgropers.

The 190cm forward steadily built up strong form for the Tigers at the Colts level and would end the year as a premiership co-captain of the side, adding to his Colts flag from last year as a bottom-ager with a 30-disposal outing in this year's season decider against Swan Districts.

Davis also quickly turned heads in his seven WAFL league games this year, a spell that included a four-goal and 21-disposal performance in Claremont's opening final against East Fremantle.

Playing at the senior level, Davis averaged 14.3 disposals, 2.7 marks, 2.7 inside 50s, 5.1 score involvements, and a goal per game to prove his ability to play against experienced opposition.

A selection for Davis is most likely to come early into the second round of this year's draft and as early as the top 20, while he could drift out to be an early third-round selection also, giving clubs like Sydney (Pick 22), the Western Bulldogs (Pick 25 and 35), Port Adelaide (Pick 29 and 36) and Fremantle (Pick 30) a look at his services.

His athletic ability and proven skills as a forward-midfield threat have Davis likened to retired North Melbourne veteran Hugh Greenwood, who also showed to be a strong aerial threat.

Expert comments

"An athletic medium forward who presents well as a marking target and uses his power to split packs and his endurance to outwork his opponents. Had a progressive year, dominating early at Colts level for Claremont, where he averaged 23 disposals and kicked 14 goals in nine matches, as well as being Western Australia's most dangerous forward at the National Championships." - Kevin Sheehan
