Ruck-forward Kayle Gerreyn is a burgeoning big man from Western Australia who got a look at senior WAFL action this year after a dominant run in the Colts for West Perth.
The teenager is a 199cm prospect and the son of former Hawthorn-listed player Chris Gerreyn, who did not play a game at the top level during his time with the Hawks in the 1990s.
The younger Gerreyn had a positive campaign playing for the Falcons' U18s side this year, proving to be a headache for the opposition as both a ruckman and key forward across 11 games for West Perth.
Gerreyn averaged 21.5 disposals, 6.2 marks, 22.0 hitouts, 3.7 clearances, 7.8 score involvements, and 1.6 goals at the level, with a purple patch of form coming in a two-game run that saw him amass at least 30 disposals, 30 hitouts and two goals in successive matches.
The mobile tall was rewarded with a WAFL debut for West Perth, breaking through for a game against Subiaco in Round 20 before backing that up the following week against South Fremantle, where he kicked two goals from eight disposals.
Gerreyn was also among Western Australia's best at this year's U18s National Championships, kicking five goals in four games while shifting between the middle and forward thirds of the field.
Strong marking, power, agility, and his follow-up work at the contest are among the traits Gerreyn possesses that are sure to excite AFL scouts weighing up a selection for the Joondalup Kinross native.
Hawthorn could be among the clubs that express an interest in Gerreyn midway through the draft, while Richmond, Sydney, and St Kilda are other potential landing spots for the WA talent.
Gerreyn may earn comparisons to emerging AFL ruck-forwards Luke Jackson or Riley Thilthorpe given his versatility and athletic strengths.
