Sandringham Dragons gun Murphy Reid was a sight to behold during his draft year, making the game look easy at times.

Reid was one of the dominant prospects throughout 2024 and proved his worth during the Dragons' run to the premiership, as well as his performances for Vic Metro.

He was outstanding at the National Championships, averaging 24.5 disposals (9.2 contested), 3.2 clearances and 3.2 tackles across the four matches, resulting in winning Victoria Metro's MVP award as well as All-Australian honours.

Reid has drawn comparisons to Collingwood great Scott Pendlebury for his ability to weave his way through traffic effortlessly whilst also being regarded as one of the best handballers in the draft.

An exceptional ball user, the Victorian's creativity through the midfield and forward will be an exciting prospect for any club that takes him, with Richmond, Melbourne and St Kilda likely to be in the mix.

Reid didn't feature at the National Draft Combine due to a knee injury, but it won't impact his prospect of getting selected early in the piece.

Expert Comments

"A midfielder-forward who has speed to burn, which allows him to burst away from congestion and use the ball with precision. Reads the game exceptionally well, is a prolific ball winner and creative and innovative when in congestion." - Kevin Sheehan.
