With every year and each AFL Draft there are as many stories of promising prospects missing out on a selection as there are with those who are fortunate enough to land on an AFL list.
This year's National Draft saw a total of 71 selections made - the highest tally in six years as the class of 2024 offered a deep and even talent pool.
Clubs can still add to their list via the Supplemental Selection Period, with Friday's Rookie Draft seeing the likes of Archer Day-Wicks and Xavier Ivisic earn list spots after being passed on earlier in the week.
A handful of overlooked 2024 prospects loom as worthy names to look at for clubs with list spots free for 2025, or at least have opportunities at their VFL, SANFL or WAFL pathways.
GWV Rebels ruck-forward Floyd Burmeister is a viable option for an AFL club still wanting to add some height and youth to their ranks, with the athletic 199cm utility among the top names to go without a selection earlier this week.
The Rebels had five players selected in the National Draft following their Talent League Grand Final finish, headlined by the selection of No.1 overall pick Sam Lalor.
Another Victorian in Gabriel Stumpf - who was among the standouts at last month's National Draft Combine - could also earn attention an exciting tall forward who boats phenomenal athletic traits.
He took out the 20m sprint test and the standing vertical test at the combine while standing at 196cm.
Tasmanian Nathaniel Sulzberger is an option for clubs seeking versatile midfield talent, with the Sandringham Dragons prospect a damaging player in the front half of the field.
South Australian pair Phoenix Hargrave and Jacob Newton should also be on the radar of clubs, with the two Croweaters both being powerful smaller-sized onballers who can also float forward.
In Western Australia, key defender Clancy Dennis could earn the interest of clubs in the market for an intercept or lockdown tall, with the Claremont native a member of this year's U18 All-Australian side.
Fellow WA defender Jaxon Artemis joins Dennis in the mix, having earned MVP honours for Western Australia at this year's U18s carnival. A half-back or wing option, Artemis is a clean and intelligent user of the ball who offers good spread and run.
St Kilda NGA talent Adrian Cole might an option for another club, with the Saints non-committal on selecting the Sandringham key defender in the wake of their busy draft window.
Cole could still fetch interest elsewhere given his strong season with the Dragons and Vic Metro, having earned premiership honours with both.
