Vic Metro and Sandringham Dragons coach Rob Harding has revealed who Richmond should take at Pick 1 in the upcoming National Draft.
The 2024 crop of future stars has long been touted to rival the 2001 "Superdraft", as is its high level of talent and depth, in particular the first 10 prospects.
The Tigers have been linked to multiple stars, especially given their historic draft hand, possessing Pick 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23 and 24, along with the prized first selection.
Harding believes that Vic Metro and Oakleigh Chargers captain Jagga Smith is the name that Richmond fans will be calling out for years to come, likening him to a former club captain.
"A challenging and philosophical one for Richmond," Harding said on SEN of who the Tigers will take at Pick 1.
"If you look at Sam Lalor, his physical attributes is that power midfielder and has the ability to go forward, and naturally, there's going to be the comparisons to Dusty.
"Keeping with the Richmond theme, I think Jagga (Smith) is Trent Cotchin. That's his path going forward.

"He was captain of our (Vic Metro) National Championship team, and his leadership, ability to train hard, take feedback on board and keep improving is first class.
"I think Jagga's body of work is as close to a sure-fire pick as you'd like to see.
"Sam had injuries with his hamstring. Finn O'Sullivan is a talent who has battled injuries as well."
Harding believes that Brisbane father-son gun Levi Ashcroft is the "best player" in the draft, but given his link to the club, could slip down the order.
However, the Dragons premiership coach thinks Ashcroft deserves the mantle as Pick 1.
"One of the hardest years to (select Pick 1)," Harding said on SEN.
"This year, there's half a dozen players who could probably be Pick 1.
"I'm really clear that Levi Ashcroft is the best player in this draft and should be Pick 1 and I hope Richmond bid on him.
"I think he deserves the recognition for all the hard work he's put in."

Given Richmond's breadth of selections, it is likely they will select players from different positions, helping lock down the key posts in the forward and backline for the future.
The AFL National Draft will take place on November 20-22.
