A Tasmian utility and an Eastern Ranges outside midfielder are the latest draft prospects to be viewed as potential top 10 selections for next month's count.

Launceston swingman James Leake has been a bolter this year off the back of his strong National Championships with the Allies, earning a spot in the carnival's Team of the Year as a formidable medium-sized defender.

The teenager can also move forward and have an impact on goal, having booted 15 goals in his last five Talent League games this year for Tasmania.

His versatility and ability in the air will have scouts interested in his services during the first round of November's intake, with News Corp reporting that Leake is now gaining attention from clubs that currently hold early draft selections.

Melbourne, GWS and Geelong hold Picks 6, 7 and 8 respectively and are all believed to be considering Leake with their opening selections, while St Kilda - who are set to enter the draft at 13th overall - are also keen on the Taswegian.

Leake isn't the only rising draft prospect to be entering the top 10 mix, with Eastern Ranges and Vic Metro wingman Caleb Windsor also said to be "rocketing" into the first half of the opening round.

MOCK DRAFT: PICKS 1-27

Windsor is a pacey and talented outside ball-winner who has clean hands and speed to burn, with the Lysterfield junior helping steer the Ranges to a Talent League Grand Final finish where he'd feature among his side's best performers in a loss to Sandringham last month.

AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey has suggested that Windsor has emerged as a near-certain top 12 selection, with clubs that currently hold top 10 picks keen on the ball-winner.

"Another name to put on the radar, and I think there's some momentum behind this, Caleb Windsor to be a potential shock top 10 pick," Twomey told Gettable on Wednesday.

"His running capacity is high end, he can use the ball well, he kicks it nicely, athletically very gifted and huge upside.

"I'd be surprised now if he's not picked inside that first 10, 11 or 12 selections. That's definitely a watch for me.

"Athletically he's so strong, so could the Bombers even look at him if he got through to Pick 9? No doubt Caleb Windsor is rocketing into that top 10 contention."

This year's draft class is viewed to consist of a leading 15 or so prospects before the standard of options falls away a touch, while the top six to eight prospects have also separated themselves from the chasing pack.

The Gold Coast Suns are likely to have a trio of Academy prospects selected within the opening 10-15 picks at the draft, leaving other clubs to work through the prospects in between as rivals prepare to see their selections pushed back from as early as North Melbourne at Pick 2 through bids for the Suns Academy trio.

Geelong have flagged Pick 8 is on the trade table for the right price, while Adelaide, Melbourne and Essendon are keen to advance their place in the queue.

The Demons and Roos both put offers to West Coast for Pick 1, however their bids were declined as the Eagles look more and more likely to take the prized pick to the draft and recruit top-rated teenager Harley Reid.

North Melbourne could increase their offer for Pick 1 given they hold a total of six first-round picks across the next two drafts.

The 2023 National Draft is scheduled to take place on November 20-21.
