AFL great Wayne Carey was allegedly been caught with a bag of white substance at a casino in Perth last week, with the Channel 7 broadcast member reportedly banned from all Crown Casino properties for a minimum of two years following the incident.

According to News Corp, Carey was in attendance of Crown Burswood in Wester Australia last Thursday where he was gambling.

During his time at the venue, a bag of white powder allegedly fell from his pocket and landed on a gaming table, with staff quickly then reportedly alerting security.

Carey was then questioned by Crown security and is understood to have allegedly admitted the bag of white substance was his.

It is said that Carey was staying at Crown during his time in Perth to cover Saturday night's elimination final between Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs.

Once staff were aware of his stay at their venue, Carey is understood to have been evicted from the hotel.

“We are aware of a recent incident at Crown Perth where a patron was escorted from the premises," a Crown representative stated to The Herald Sun.

“The incident was handled within our standard procedures and due to privacy reasons, we are unable to provide further comment. At Crown Perth our priority remains keeping our guests, employees and the community safe.

“As trained professionals, our employees are entrusted to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for customers and staff at all times, and will take necessary action to ensure these policies are abided by.”

In an interview with The Age, Carey revealed the white powder was not an illegal substance, instead the bag contained crushed up anti-inflammatory.

“It was not an illegal substance, it was offered to security. Security didn’t take it,” Carey said.

“They just said it’s not a great look, I understood that, and we left without incident.”

It is understood Carey has temporarily stood down from his duties with Channel 7.
