The AFL have issued a 'please explain' to Richmond star Jess Hosking over an "inappropriate message" was spotted written on her shoulder strapping over the weekend.
The message, which read "kill bitches", was spotted during Saturday's semi-final loss to North Melbourne, prompting the AFL to issue an informal warning.
Hosking had several messages written over her strapping on both her shoulders and arms, but 7 News' Mitch Cleary explained that the league had taken offence at just the one particular comment.
“It's these unsavoury comments that have drawn the ire of the league, Hosking receiving a formal warning by the AFL,” Cleary said.
“It was at the game at Punt Road on the weekend and it was visible during the broadcast, clearly written by someone else.
“Hosking though has taken full ownership.”
Hosking has since apologised for the messages, with a statement confirming that the 26-year-old was "remorseful".
“The AFL issued a please explain to Richmond's Jess Hosking after an inappropriate message was written on her shoulder strapping during the Richmond and North Melbourne final last weekend,” the statement read.
“Hosking was extremely remorseful and deeply disappointed in her actions. The AFL has since accepted a letter of apology from Jess and has issued an official warning to the club and Jess regarding the offensive language.”
Richmond's loss eliminated them from the season seven finals series, while North are set to face Melbourne in the preliminary finals on Saturday.
