Delisted St Kilda ruckman Tom Campbell is reportedly in the sights of Melbourne as a backup for Max Gawn.
After just four games in three seasons at Moorabbin, Campbell was dropped by the Saints, following stints at North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs.
However, it is understood that the Demons have shown interest in securing the 32-year-old, according to AFL Media's Cal Twomey.
"A fourth AFL club is looming for delisted Saint Tom Campbell, who has interest from Melbourne as a ruck option," Twomey said.
"He could find himself with a new home for 2025, with the 32-year-old garnering interest from the Demons to be a ruck deputy to champion big man Max Gawn.
"Campbell, who has done an internship at the AFL whilst playing at the Saints observing the football operations department as well as commercial and strategy teams, has remained the standout ruckman at VFL level with Sandringham and would offer back-up to the Demons for seven-time All-Australian (ruck Max Gawn)."
Campbell began his career at the Bulldogs in 2012, playing 42 games across six seasons before being traded to Arden Street.
There, the 32-year-old 12 matches for the Kangaroos, falling behind the likes of Todd Goldstein before moving to the Saints ahead of the 2022 campaign.
Campbell received 13 votes in the coveted J.J. Liston Trophy (VFL best-and-fairest) for his 18.8 disposals, 4.7 marks, 34.5 hit-outs and 3.6 tackles in 2024.
If Melbourne were to sign the tall, he'd join an illustrious group of four-club players.
The most recent four-club players are Tom Hickey (Gold Coast, St Kilda, West Coast and Sydney) and Ben Hudson (Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Brisbane and Collingwood).
Other notable four-club players include Martin Pike, Phil Carman, Scott Cummings, Geoff Raines, Justin Murphy, Richard Osborne, Matthew Clarke, Peter Francis, Brian Wilson and Adrian Fletcher (including Brisbane Bears/Lions).
Western Bulldogs swingman Rory Lobb was destined to join the four-club gang earlier in the year but has since found his spot in the senior side.
Dale Kickett played for five clubs – Fitzroy, West Coast, St Kilda, Essendon and Fremantle.
