Carlton defenders Nic Newman and Lachlan Cowan have both been handed sanctions by the Match Review Officer following separate incidents in the Blues' one-point win over Melbourne on Thursday night.
Cowan caught the MRO's eye after the Tasmanian opted to strike Demon Alex Neal-Bullen during the second-term of the top-eight clash.
Being his first offence, and graded as low impact, to the body and careless in conduct, Cowan won't miss any playing time, with the 19-year-old instead handed a $3,125 fine.
Should Cowan enter an early guilty plea, the younger's financial sanction will be whittled back to $1,875.
Despite scrutiny applied at the time of his bump - ironically also on Neal-Bullen - Newman has also escaped any suspension, with the former Swan being struck with a $3,700 fine instead.
Akin to Cowan, Newman's glancing blow was graded as low impact, to the body and careless, rather than reckless, in conduct.
Newman can also soften his hip pocket hit with an early guilty plea, seeing his tab worked back to $2,500.
Both Cowan and Newman will remain in the selection frame for Carlton's next fixture, a mouthwatering date against Sydney at the SCG next Friday night.
