Lions defender Ryan Lester has been charged by the AFL's Match Review Officer following Brisbane's preliminary final win over Carlton at the Gabba on Saturday.

Lester has been sanctioned $1,500 by Michael Christian for tripping Carlton's Blake Acres during the second quarter of proceedings on Saturday.

The $1,500 penalty can be reduced to $1,000 with an early plea.

There were no other charges laid from Brisbane's 16-point victory, with all Lions who played on Saturday remaining available for Grand Final selection barring injury.

Unless ailing defender Jack Payne stages a late run for selection on Thursday night, the Lions don't figure to have many headaches heading into next Saturday afternoon's decider against Collingwood.

Midfielder Lachie Neale seems to have avoided a potential shoulder concern after appearing unbothered by any such ailment post-game on Saturday.

The Magpies, on the other hand, will need to decide how to replace injured key forward Daniel McStay, who sustained a high-grade MCL strain against GWS on Friday night and has already been ruled out of the monumental clash against his old side.

Veteran Taylor Adams, meanwhile, is racing the clock to be fit in time for team selection, having fallen victim to a hamstring strain during Collingwood's match practice last Friday.

Collingwood and Brisbane's selected sides for the big dance are set to be announced next Thursday at 6:20 PM (AEST).

The 2023 AFL Grand Final's first bounce is scheduled for 2:30 PM (AEST) next Saturday, September 30 at the MCG.
