Carlton's Lachie Fogarty has been handed a one-game suspension for striking following an incident in Saturday's clash with Fremantle.

In contesting a marking contest, Fogarty's outstretched fist collided high with Dockers player Nat Fyfe, flooring the veteran before a 50-metre penalty was paid.

The incident garnered scrutiny of the AFL's Match Review Officer, who has handed Fogarty a suspension.

Grading Fogarty's actions as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, the result of the charge sees Fogarty hit with a one-game ban for striking.

That suspension would mean the Blues forward is unable to play Adelaide in Round 5, with Fogarty then next available the following week when Carlton face GWS at Marvel Stadium.

Following Saturday's win over the Dockers, Blues coach Michael Voss said he saw no issue with Fogarty's attempt on the ball.

"I thought it was a great contest between two guys keeping their eyes on the footy," Blues coach Michael Voss said of the incident post-game.

"That's what the pure thing about AFL is. Fyfe went back with flight of the ball and Fog came across and tried to spoil it with eyes on the ball the whole way."

Foagrty's charge was the only one from the MRO's findings from Saturday's action.
