Adelaide's Mark Keane has narrowly avoided a one-match suspension for his tripping offence on Brisbane's Sam Day.
Keane copped a $10,000 fine ($6,250 early plea) for his action, which was graded as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact.
Similarly, Geelong's Sam De Koning was sanctioned for the exact same act against Essendon's Andrew McGrath.
De Koning's fine wasn't as severe, copping a $3,000 ($2,000 early plea) as a penalty after the Match Review Officer (MRO) determined the same grading.
Tripping can be a reportable offence, but considerations include the speed of the opponent, whether the trip was by hand or foot and whether the contact was made with a swinging motion.
Where a trip does not have more than negligible impact, the MRO can still charge the player under the fixed financial sanctions.
Bomber midfielder Elijah Tsatas and Richmond's Kamdyn McIntosh were both penalised for careless contact with an umpire, copping a $1,500 ($1,000 early plea) fine.
