West Coast youngster Tom Gross has been fined for two separate incidents for his involvement in scuffles against Carlton on Saturday.

Gross copped a $1,500 ($1,000 guilty plea) for striking Blues forward Jesse Motlop in the fourth quarter, while the amount doubled shortly after for engaging in a melee.

Motlop himself can also hand over $1,500 ($1,000 guilty plea) for his participation in said melee.

In the same contest, Liam Baker will give $1,500 ($1,000 guilty plea) for careless contact with an umpire.

Gold Coast's Joel Jeffrey avoided suspension for his strike on North Melbourne's Paul Curtis in the third term.

The Match Review Officer (MRO) found the incident to be intentional conduct, low impact and body conduct, constituting a $3,000 fine ($2,000 guilty plea).

Essendon's Nic Martin can also count his lucky stars that his strike on Melbourne's Ed Langdon was graded as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, also resulting in a $3,000 penalty ($2,000 guilty plea).

Martin's teammates Jade Gresham and Sam Durham copped $1,500 ($1,000 guilty plea) for engaging in a wrestle due to the incident.

The same went for Langdon's teammates Jack Viney ($3,125), Caleb Windsor ($1,500) and Trent Rivers ($1,500).

Viney's amount is larger due to his second offence, whilst the other penalised players' actions were recorded as their first.

In previous matches, Adelaide's James Peatling was offered a one-match suspension for his dangerous tackle on Oisin Mullin in Thursday's game.

Shortly after Geelong's win, Bailey Smith was seen flipping the bird at a Crows fan, which the AFL charged him with an "obscene gesture" and $1,500 ($1,000 guilty plea) fine.
