The AFL's Match Review Officer has handed down seven charges from Sunday's action, with GWS speedster Toby Bedford learning his fate for a controversial tackle on Tigers star Tim Taranto.
Bedford has copped a three-week suspension for the run-down, which forced Taranto from the field with concussion after his head made heavy contact with the MCG turf.
The incident has caused significant public outcry, many expressing sympathy for Bedford, who appeared to execute the tackle without malice and within all legal parameters.
The MRO graded the blow as careless, severe impact and high contact, with the verdict to be challenged by the club on Tuesday.
It has raised discussion over the future of our sport and its combative nature, as well as the logic behind the marginal threshold between no sanction and a three-week ban.
If the challenge is unsuccessful Bedford will miss the Giants' meetings with Gold Coast, Melbourne and Hawthorn; pivotal clashes in the lead-up to September.
Lion star Charlie Cameron will also face three weeks on the sidelines for a dump tackle on Eagle Liam Duggan in yesterday's 13-point Brisbane victory.
Cameron's tackle also left Duggan with concussion, the back of his head slamming into the turf in the tackle that has also been judged careless with severe impact and high contact.
The verdict has also been challenged by the club, as Brisbane prepare to meet Sydney before Gold Coast and St Kilda on away trips without their superstar forward in their late surge to the top four.
Suns Alex Davies and Malcolm Rosas will miss weeks for their hits on Port players Lachie Jones and Logan Evans respectively.
Davies copped a three-match ban for a dangerous ground ball bump to the head of Jones, forcing the Power defender from the match immediately with concussion.
Also graded careless, severe and high, he will miss clashes with GWS, Brisbane and West Coast, and may struggle to scrape back into the side for the end of the season or finals, potentially raising doubts over his spot on Gold Coast's list, being out of contract at season's end.
The Suns have decided to challenge the ban handed down to Davies and will front the Tribunal on Tuesday.
Rosas has accepted a one-week suspension for his running elbow to the back of Evans' head, the incident ramping up speculation of a combative memo being sent to the Gold Coast players ahead of the match.
Three other fines were laid down on Sunday, all in the West Coast vs Brisbane clash.
Dayne Zorko and Harley Reid can both accept a $1,250 early plea for their part in a second quarter melee.
Eagle Zane Trew will pay a $2,500 early plea for intentional, low impact to the body of Lions' ruckman Oscar McInerny, or risk a $3,750 sanction with an unsuccessful challenge.
