GWS defender Lachie Ash will likely face a nervous wait ahead of the AFL's Match Review Officer's findings from Saturday's clash between the Giants and Fremantle.

A second-quarter tackle on Dockers midfielder Hayden Young is likely to gain the MRO's attention at the very least, with a rough conduct (dangerous tackle) charge to be considered due to the incident.

Ash's tackle on Young sees the GWS speedster take hold of both of Young and pin his opponent's right arm, with Young's head making heavy contact with the surface as both players went to ground.

Young slowly got to his feet and was able to continue in the match, a factor that is sure to work in Ash's favour ahead of potential scrutiny from the MRO.

For the MRO to charge Ash for the tackle, they would need to see Ash's actions worthy of a reportable offence.

That requires the MRO to deem that Ash either used more than one action in his tackle, that the tackle was of an inherently dangerous nature, that Young was placed in a vulnerable position, or if Young was slung, driven or rotated into the ground with excessive force by Ash.

The most likely angle would be that Ash placed Young in a vulnerable through his actions, with either a fine or one-game suspension likely the outcome if that is to be the case.

The MRO would likely grade Ash's actions as careless conduct and high contact, with the impact grading expected to decide whether Ash misses a game or escapes with a financial sanction.

A 'low' impact grading would see Ash fined, while a 'medium' grading would see the MRO hand Ash a one-game suspension.

A ban would mean Ash misses his side's Round 24 trip to Ballarat to face the Western Bulldogs, with a return then scheduled for September, pending a finals spot for the Giants.
