The AFL's Match Review Officer has charged two players from Thursday's Round 1 clash between Richmond and Carlton, with Tigers tall forward Tom Lynch handed a suspension.

Lynch's second-quarter bump on Blues ruckman Tom De Koning has earned the Tigers veteran a rough conduct charge to start the 2025 season, with the MRO offering a one-game ban.

The MRO graded Lynch's actions as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, resulting in the suspension.

De Koning was able to continue in the match despite the high knock.

The MRO's verdict will mean Lynch is unavailable for Richmond's Round 2 match against Port Adelaide, which will take place on Saturday, March 22 at Adelaide Oval.

If the suspension is accepted by Lynch, he would next be available for the Tigers' Round 3 game against St Kilda.

Lynch and the Tigers can challenge the MRO's decision via the AFL Tribunal next week.

Carlton midfielder Adam Cerra was the other player charged by the MRO, who has found the Blues onballer guilty of making careless contact with an umpire.

Cerra can reduce a $5000 fine to $3125 with an early guilty plea for the offence.
