Melbourne star Jack Viney will reach into his wallet after being charged for "other misconduct" against North Melbourne ruck Tristan Xerri.

On Sunday, Viney and the Demons couldn't go with the improving Kangaroos, going down by 59 points under the roof at Marvel Stadium.

Further salt was added to the wound of Melbourne's vice-captain after the Match Review Officer (MRO) found a third-quarter indiscretion, resulting in a $1,500 fine or $1,000 early guilty plea.

Viney's sanction was the only one coming from Sunday's games.

Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield narrowly avoided suspension after his careless act in Saturday's loss to St Kilda.

Dangerfield has escaped with just a fine for his action, sanctioned a hefty $6,250, or $3,750 with an early plea.

The act was deemed careless conduct, low impact and high contact.

Collingwood midfielder Jack Crisp's consecutive record remains intact - and inches closer to Jim Stynes' 244 - after the MRO deemed his tackle against Rhylee West not to be reportable on Friday.

In that same contest, Rory Lobb's attempted spoil that left Mason Cox with a bruised eye also avoided any real punishment.
