A total of five players have been charged by the AFL's Match Review Officer from Saturday's Round 21 action, with Richmond captain Toby Nankervis hit with a striking offence.

A fourth-term strike on North Melbourne opponent Nick Larkey has seen Nankervis charged, with the actions of the Tigers ruckman graded as careless contact, low impact and high contact.

The charge will see Nankervis slapped with a fine for the strike, with an early guilty plea resulting in a $3750 fine for the Richmond big man.

Should Nankervis decide to challenge the charge and be unsuccessful, the fine would increase to $6250.

Elsewhere, four players from Saturday night's game between Collingwood and Carlton have been charged, three of which handed fines for engaging in a melee/wrestle.

Magpies pair Lachie Schultz and Mason Cox have been handed $1875 fines, which can be downgraded to $1250 fines with early pleas, for their involvement in the second quarter melee.

Carlton's Nic Newman has been hit with a $3125 fine, which will drop to a $1875 fine should he opt against challenging the charge.

Lastly, Blues backman Jordan Boyd has been charged with 'other misconduct' for an incident involving Cox during the second quarter. Boyd can walk away with a $1250 fine with an early plea, or risk a $1875 fine with a challenge.

Any challenges will be confirmed on Tuesday afternoon at the latest.

No other players were cited from Saturday's matches.
