The MRO have sanctioned four players from two games of Saturday's AFL action, with an incident during the Tigers-Saints clash the headline decision.

Richmond forward Rhyan Mansell has been suspended for three games for rough conduct on St Kilda's Liam O'Connell after pushing the Saints defender into a marking contest, leaving O'Connell concussed.

The AFL sent out a memo early in the season to clubs to warn that players may now face suspension for rough conduct if they push a player into oncoming marking traffic.

It came after a period of similar acts caused injury and head knocks through the pre-season, with 2024 Pick 1 Sam Lalor suffering a fractured jaw after being pushed by Reuben Ginbey in a practice match, while Brandon Starcevich suffered a concussion in the Community Series against Adelaide from a similar incident.

Notably, players who can see the oncoming traffic before choosing to push their opponent into the pack is the key part of the memo that suggests a suspension could be warranted, and could be the reasoning behind Mansell's three week ban.

Mansell was charged with rough conduct, with the grading deemed careless conduct, severe impact and high contact.

Mitchito Owens can accept a $3,000 fine for a striking offence on first-round draftee Luke Trainor, reduced to $2,000 with an early plea.

It was graded as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact.

Ben Miller can also accept a hefty fine worth $6,250 for rough conduct on St Kilda's Lance Collard, or $3,750 with an early plea.

It was graded carless conduct, low impact, and high contact.

From the three other Saturday games, just Kieren Briggs has warranted a sanction for his rough conduct on Mabior Chol.

Graded careless conduct, low impact, and high contact, Briggs will have to cough up $3,000, or $2,000 with an early plea.
