Adelaide veteran Brodie Smith might have a case to answer to the Match Review Officer, who is expected to scrutinise an incident from Friday's match simulation session between the Crows and Port Adelaide.

A collision between Smith and Power rookie Christian Moraes is likely to earn scrutiny from the MRO, with a potential rough conduct charge being handed to the former.

The incident in question occurred in the opening minutes of the fifth term of the practice match, with Moraes collected by Smith shortly after disposing of possession.

The bump from Smith floored Moraes, who was slow to get to his feet and made his way from the field as blood came from his face.

The Power have not commented on Moraes' condition, however the young Victorian did return to play.

The MRO could view that Smith's actions warrant a reportable offence for rough conduct, which would result in either a fine or suspension for the 33-year-old before the home and away season gets underway.

Smith's actions would likely earn a conduct grading of 'careless', with the level of impact and the contact grading not as clear.

If contact to Moraes' head is found, the contact grading would be 'high' instead of 'body', while the level of impact is likely to span between 'low', 'medium' or 'high'.

A 'low' grading - in conjunction with careless conduct and high impact - would result in a fine. A 'medium' impact grading would see Smith handed a one-game suspension.

If a 'medium' impact grading is found and the contact grading is 'body', Smith would avoid a suspension and instead receive a fine.

The MRO is expected to hand down their findings from the first week of pre-season matches on Monday.

Smith and the Crows are preparing for a second pre-season match against Brisbane this week prior to their Round 1 bout with St Kilda in mid-March.
