Sydney veteran Dane Rampe will nervously await the AFL Match Review Officer's findings from Friday's preliminary final following an incident involving Port Adelaide's Zak Butters.

The opening quarter altercation saw Rampe and Butters collide on the SCG wing, with the latter collecting the ball and immediately disposing of it by hands before contact between the pair.

Rampe's late and high bump on Butters saw Port Adelaide awarded a down-field free kick, with Butters floored as a result of the incident. The Power star was able to get to his feet straight away and play out the match.

The actions of Rampe could be a major talking point over the coming 24 hours after the Swans booked themselves a spot in next Saturday's grand final.

The former Sydney co-captain shouldn't expect a suspension for the incident but could earn a charge for rough conduct for his hit on Butters.

The MRO would most likely grade the offence as careless conduct and high contact, with a low impact grading meaning Rampe would be handed a fine.

An impact grading of medium or higher would result in a suspension and therefore rule Rampe out of the grand final, but given Butters was able to remain in the match and required no medical assessment anything higher than 'low' would be surprising.

A ban would likely be challenged by the Swans in preperation for the season decider, with Rampe, who would have a case to argue at the Tribunal, a key cog in John Longmire's system.

The Swans could have captain Callum Mills available next weekend after he was ruled out of facing the Power with a hamstring strain.

The MRO's findings from Friday's preliminary final will be handed down on Saturday evening.
