Richmond premiership captain Trent Cotchin has found himself dominating the footy field once again, slotting four goals from 27 touches for the Ballan Blues in the Central Highlands Football League as a part of the Carlton Draft.

Since launching in 2022, The Carlton Draft has helped generate huge crowds as local footy fans flock to see legends of the game pull on a jumper for grassroots clubs across Victoria.

Cotchin - the first of six former stars to play local football - took the field over the weekend, producing a dominant performance in the loss to Newlyn, going down by 46 points.

Known for his ferocity and dare as a champion Tiger, the 2012 Brownlow medallist was followed all day by the opposition, according to Fox Sports, as a huge crowd came down to witness the former star in all his glory.

Essendon goalkicking superstar Matthew Lloyd is next up in the Carlton Draft series, pulling on the Old Collegians jersey in Warrnambool on June 29.

Others who will take part in the Carlton Draft series include St Kilda great Leigh Montagna, former Hawthorn and Geelong premiership star Isaac Smith and former Carlton and GWS player Dylan Buckley.

The sixth lucky Victorian club granted a pick in the 2024 ‘The Carlton Draft' has today been revealed, with the Marong Football Netball Club welcoming AFLW legend Erin Phillips as a wildcard selection.

Marong will create history as the first women's team since the campaign's inception in 2022, winning out against more than 95 other local Victorian women's clubs to secure Phillips' services.
