Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley says the club isn't necessarily looking forward to the reunion with Collingwood recruit Dan Houston on Saturday at the MCG.

Houston opted out of his Power contract to return home to Victoria in last year's trade period, with the Pies swooping on the two-time All-Australian.

In a three-club trade, Houston ended up at the AIA Centre while Joe Richards and Jack Lukosius landed at Alberton.

The former Port Adelaide defender will debut in the black and white at the MCG after serving his five-match suspension from last year, which Hinkley "hopes (he has) a bad day".

"I don't know whether looking forward to it is the right word," Hinkley told reporters on Wednesday.

"He has been one of our favourite players for a long period of time but he's now a Collingwood player.

"We move on, as (ex-Collingwood forward) Joey Richards is now a Port Adelaide player.

"There's a few stories in different areas, so we just don't want Dan to have a great day.

"I said that when Dan and I spoke last: I wish you all the best every time you play, except when you play Port Adelaide, we hope you have a bad day.

"Dan knows how we respect our past players but we also know we have to move on - and we have been asked to move on by Dan."

Hinkley remained coy on whether a Power forward will spend time on Houston, quipping about who the 168-gamer would match up on.

"It will be interesting to see who Dan goes to as much as anything," Hinkley said.

"The defender usually chooses where he goes more often than not, so we'll be interested to see where he goes.

"I'll be equally interested to see where Daicos goes, Josh, (Isaac) Quaynor - there's a few down there that I have got to spend some time worrying about, not just Dan."

Both Richards and Lukosius are expected to don the black and teal for the first time while highly-touted draftee Joe Berry is being strongly considered.

However, the Port Adelaide coach - who enters his last year at the helm - did hint at tagging star Pie Nick Daicos.

The Collingwood son-of-a-gun was widely documented for his below par performance against GWS as well as his rare sighting of him cramping.

Daicos was heavily tagged by Toby Bedford and was kept to 21 disposals, a role that could be tasked for Willem Drew.

"We will have to work our way through that, we know he is a great player, he is a star of the comp, we've been told that plenty of times and we have seen it," he said.

"We look forward to the challenge."

Hinkley also declared captain Connor Rozee "ready to go" on Saturday against Collingwood despite a minor training mishap last week.

Injured key defender Esava Ratugolea will be seen in the club's SANFL side as he continues to build his workload towards his AFL return.
